Description
What is PT-141 (Bremelanotide)?
Bremelanotide (also known as PT-141) is an analog of the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), an endogenous peptide hormone and neuropeptide.
PT-141 enhances sexual arousal and spontaneous erections, making it effective in treating sexual dysfunction in both women (sexual arousal disorder) and men (erectile dysfunction or impotence). Unlike Viagra and related drugs, PT-141 does not act on the vascular system—instead, it directly increases sexual desire via the central nervous system, making it safer for cardiovascular health.
Derived from Melanotan II, this peptide is currently under FDA evaluation, and it will be marketed under the name Ayleesi upon approval. A known side effect is severe nausea, reported in about 21% of users.
Administration
PT-141 is administered via subcutaneous injection using an insulin syringe.
